Balu (Prabhu) works as a dairy farmer under the care of his widowed mother. Balu crosses paths with Durga, the daughter of a powerful politician, Rajaratnam.

As their meetings turn into love, trouble brews in the form of Durga's tyrant uncle who wants to marry Durga at any cost. Also, a love triangle ensues as a girl named Shanmathi falls in love with Balu.
